Enjoy a unique musical and culinary experience signature to Festival Mozaic! The evening begins with a wine and appetizer reception. Then join Scott Yoo and the Festival Artists inside Cass Winery’s beautiful Barrel Room for an exploration of Mendelssohn’s Sextet in D, op. 110. You’ll learn about the composer’s life, musical influences and techniques, and hear some excerpts of the piece. Afterwards, enjoy a gourmet three-course dinner by Chef Charlie Wayne on the veranda complete with award-winning Cass wines.
INSIGHT: Mendelssohn’s sextet for violin, two violas, cello, bass and piano is often overshadowed by his String Octet, which was completed one year after the sextet. Though the sextet shows signs of being a somewhat simpler composition, the brilliant piano part suggests Mendelssohn wanted to show off his own skills at the keyboard.
