Public engagement and careful analysis led to the options that will be presented in the study session on July 16. During the study session, City staff will present progress on the Short Range Transit Plan update, including a review of proposed goals and standards for services provided by SLO Transit, results from outreach and engagement efforts and service alternatives analysis. Service alternatives analyzed include more frequent service, more service on the weekends and in the evening, and new delivery modes like Microtransit.
Staff is recommending that the Council provide direction as to which service alternatives they prefer. Following the study session, staff will compile the public input and direction from the Council to develop a draft plan and return to Council in November for a review of the operating budget, capital budget and marketing plan elements of the plan. A final plan will go before Council in January 2025 for adoption.
