Eye health and clear vision impact education, employment, quality of life, overall health and so much more, yet 1.1 billion people around the world live with vision impairment and can’t get the care they need for a variety of reasons. Community members experiencing homelessness have even more difficulty accessing eye care and eyewear.
That’s why VSP Vision Eyes of Hope is partnering with the SLO Noor Foundation to provide approximately 200 adults and children, including members of the unhoused community, in the San Luis Obispo area with free eye exams and, if needed, free prescription glasses.
WHAT: Free eye exams and eyewear for approx. 200 residents in San Luis Obispo. Appointments are encouraged.
WHO: Qualifying individuals can book an appointment by calling (805) 439-1797.
(Eligible patients will have a family income up to 200% of the federal poverty level guidelines and be uninsured for vision care)
WHEN: Nov. 1 & 2 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
WHERE: 40 Prado Homeless Services Center – 40 Prado Rd., San Luis Obispo 60647
WHY: Regular eye exams are key components to a person’s overall health and wellbeing, but not everyone has access to the care they need to be able to see their world clearly. Since 2013, VSP Vision Eyes of Hope has partnered with the SLO Noor Foundation to provide free vision care for more than 2,000 people in San Luis Obispo County.
