The City of San Luis Obispo’s beloved Box Art Program is turning 15 and the community is invited to celebrate! The Public Art Program is putting together a series of events highlighting the creativity, community and color that make this program so special. Events will be kicking off in March and lasting through the fall.

Here’s what’s coming up:

Up to 20 New Works of Art – Requests for Proposals will go live next month inviting local artists to submit proposals for fresh box art murals, adding to our city’s vibrant streetscape.

Interactive Scavenger Hunt – This summer as early as June, explore downtown while locating iconic utility box murals and enter to win limited-edition Box Art collectibles and materials.

Guided Walking Tours – Discover the history of Box Art, learn about them and the artists, and see your favorites up close. Tours will begin this summer as early as July!

Meet the Artists – As early as October, community members will be able to connect with the creatives behind the art, hear their stories and learn about their process.
