Located next door to Petit Soleil is Condesa, a new fine casual agave bar and restaurant inspired by the La Condesa neighborhood and the energy of Mexico City’s nightlife. Managed by Good Lion Hospitality, founded by husband-and-wife team Misty Orman and Brandon Ristaino, Condesa is the team’s second venue in SLO, following the relaunch of Petit Soleil in February 2024. Their first boutique hotel property, where they completed a remodel and rebrand, Condesa is located adjacent to the boutique hotel and is their eighth concept along California’s Central Coast. Opening this summer in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo, Condesa’s design blends bold textures and rich palettes with a quiet European elegance and features bites and a contemporary cocktail program with a focus on agave spirits.
The intimate space will feature a menu of Mexican-inspired bar nosh like mariscos, tacos and tostadas, including stand-out dishes like an Aguachile Pulpo with octopus, aguachile verde, jicama, cucumber, cilantro, radish, tostada; Ensalada de Nopal with cured cactus, pico de gallo, radish, queso fresco and tortilla chips; Enchiladas Suizas with pollo deshebrado, salsa verde, crema, queso fresco, cilantro, corn handmade tortillas and much more. Condesa features cocktails like the Jamaica Mule with condesa vodka, cocchi rosa, ginger, lime, hibiscus cordial, allspice, soda; Ańejo Manhattan with añejo tequila, vermouth blend, xtabentún, maraschino and coffee essence; Mango Daquiri with Oaxacan rum, mango, banana, bajan rum, chamoy, lime, sauternes and chilis, created by founder Ristaino and their expert bar staff.
As part of this new chapter, Petit Soleil debuted four new Junior “Petit Suites” individually themed for a cozy romantic getaway or group stays. Petit Soleil has long embodied the soul of California’s Central Coast, originally built in 1952, and this expansion remains true to its personality while adding a twist designed for modern travelers. Every room features a one-of-a-kind atmosphere with a vibrant palette of textures, colors, patterns and themed artwork inspired by European charm with modern amenities. Guests will be dazzled by bespoke design with cheeky, eclectic details, luxurious velvet-wrapped headboards, antique-inspired porcelain tiles and touches of warm brass. A couple of these rooms include private patios with sweeping views of downtown San Luis Obispo to savor the relaxing ambience of the city. These expansions reflect Petit Soleil’s commitment to creating memorable stays that celebrate the local community of SLO and the global inspiration of travel.
