SLO Climate Coalition is celebrating the launch of its new, free Home Energy Advising Service with an exciting giveaway of a FREE HVAC mini-split system thanks to the generous donation from Pacific Heating and Sheet Metal. The HVAC unit will be installed in the home of one lucky San Luis Obispo County homeowner or renter with landlord approval to kick off this community-focused service.

The giveaway will run from July 14 through September 30, 2025, and is open to all homeowners and homeowners with landlord approval in San Luis Obispo County (excludes mobile homes, manufactured homes, apartments and condos). The winner will receive a mini-split heating and cooling system and free installation. Mini-split systems are electric, highly efficient, and ideal for heating and cooling a single room up to 800 square feet.

While only one person will win the giveaway, hundreds more can benefit from the new Home Energy Advising Service, which offers free, personalized advising to help homeowners and renters – particularly those with lower incomes – make their homes more energy-efficient and affordable.

“This exciting giveaway celebrates the launch of our new, free Home Energy Advising Service,” said Eric Veium, SLO Climate Coalition’s Board Chair. “Our service helps households Every Step of the Way – navigating the process to upgrade to new, clean appliances, connecting with trusted contractors, and accessing thousands of dollars in available incentives.”

The free Home Energy Advising Service will continue after the giveaway ends, offering personalized support in both English and Spanish. Advising includes a virtual consultation, in-person home visit, personalized upgrade plan with incentives, trusted contractor referrals, and guidance every step of the way to help homeowners and renters (with their landlord’s support) improve air quality and comfort by installing new, clean appliances at potentially no cost to you.
