Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey is proud to announce its inaugural “Run for the Roses” Kentucky Derby benefit, taking place on Saturday, May 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the InterContinental The Clement Monterey. This premier Kentucky Derby-themed event will bring the community together for an afternoon of elegance, excitement and philanthropy to support local families and individuals in need across the Central Coast. “Our inaugural Run for the Roses benefit goes beyond a celebration, it will help us drive a lasting impact for our community,” said Angela Di Novella, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Diocese of Monterey. “Every donation helps us walk alongside our neighbors in dignity and hope, providing them with the tools they need to achieve long-term stability.”
The festivities begin at 1:30 p.m. on May 2, coinciding with the thrills of the 152nd Kentucky Derby. At Run for the Roses 2026 guests will be transported to the spirit of Churchill Downs while enjoying a lively afternoon featuring:
- Southern Spirits – Signature mint juleps alongside curated wine and bourbon tastings
- The Derby Buffet – A gourmet spread featuring Southern-inspired favorites
- Live Entertainment – Soulful Dixieland and blues to set the tone
- Race-Day Thrills – The Kentucky Derby live on the big screen
- Style & Flair – Photo booth moments, plus Best Hat and Best Dressed contests (with prizes!)
