The San Luis Obispo Downtown Association is organizing Downtown Proud, where residents will come together for a community clean-up on Saturday, June 6. This volunteer event will begin in Mission Plaza at 9 AM and continue until noon. We are seeking volunteers to help make this event a reality. Volunteers will be broken up into teams and assigned a section of Downtown with a “to-do” list and supplies to complete the job. Tasks will include picking up litter; sweeping sidewalks; cleaning benches, trashcans, light poles, bike racks, planters and tree grates; cleaning window sills, pruning trees and cleaning up spills on the sidewalk. This is a family-friendly event and the Downtown Association certainly encourages community participation. We also encourage Downtown businesses to get in on the action by sweeping and cleaning the area in front of your establishments on or before Saturday, June 6 and show your support by using #DowntownProud and #DowntownSLO hashtags. With summer approaching, tourists will be arriving to enjoy our beautiful city, and it is time to make the Downtown area shine like new. Grab a pair of gloves and come help to do your part in the community! If you or your group would like to volunteer, please email Dominic Tartaglia at [email protected].
