With more than 10,000 athletes and coaches from 177 countries, alongside nearly 600,000 volunteers and spectators, the Special Olympics World Games will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world in 2015, and the biggest event in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games. For the next few days San Luis Obispo will host nearly 100 athletes and coaches from the United Arab Emirates as a Host Town before they head south for the games from July 25 through August 2. Everyone is invited to attend a celebration of the athletes this Thursday, July 23 from 6-8 p.m. in Mission Plaza after a closing night dinner.
