San Luis Obispo County Administrative Officer (CAO) Dan Buckshi recently received the credentialed manager designation from the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) for his demonstrated commitment to high standards.
Buckshi is one of more than 1,300 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.
“Dan demonstrates a strong commitment to public service and works daily to ensure that he and County staff continue to meet high standards,” said District 5 Supervisor and Board Chair Debbie Arnold. “His effective leadership and management of County services help us all achieve our vision of a safe, healthy, livable, prosperous and well-governed community.”
To receive this prestigious credential, an ICMA member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity, lifelong learning and professional development.
ICMA’s mission is to create excellence in local governance by promoting professional management worldwide and increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators, and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities around the world. The organization’s nearly 9,000 members in 27 countries also include educators, students and other local government employees.
Buckshi was recognized by ICMA through a peer-review credentialing process. Prior to his appointment in 2012 as CAO, he served as assistant CAO for nearly three years and principal administrative analyst/budget director for three and half years. He has worked for the County Administrative Office for more than 13 years.
