Michael Bell has been named Chief Operating Officer at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center. He succeeds Ike Mmeje who was promoted to Chief Executive Officer at Doctors Hospital of Manteca.
In his new role Bell is responsible for oversight of the hospital’s daily operations and ancillary departments such as pathology, radiology, pharmacy and plant operations at the largest hospital and second largest private employer in San Luis Obispo. He will play an integral role as well in the hospital’s clinical outcomes, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and financial success.
“Michael Bell comes to Sierra Vista with an extensive background in hospital operations and performance improvement,” said Joe DeSchryver, Chief Executive Officer. “Michael brings a wide breadth of experience that will be integral as we expand and improve ways to keep our community closer to home for their care.”
Most recently Bell was Associate Administrator, Hospital Operations at Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield where he was the service line administrator for various clinical and administrative functions. Prior to that he was Director, Clinical Quality Improvement at Doctors Medical Center in Modesto and also worked at Bakersfield Heart Hospital.
Bell holds a Bachelor of Science in General Studies from the University of Nebraska, a Master’s of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary and an MBA in health care administration from Brenau University. He also is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and has been involved in numerous other community organizations.
