The application for the Cuesta College Promise Scholarship is currently open; the college is providing workshops at all three of its locations to help students interested in applying for the 2016-17 academic year. The Promise Scholarship saves students an average of $1,400 by providing a fee-free first year to recent San Luis Obispo County high school graduates. The application for the 2016-17 school year is open through August 1.

Workshops are on April 11th and May 16th (Mondays) at South County Center at Arroyo Grande High School in room 907, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m, April 12th, May 17th, June 21st and July 12th (Tuesdays) on at the North County Campus in room N2411 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and April 13, May 18, June 22 and July 13 (Wednesdays) at the San Luis Obispo Campus room 3411, also from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Free parking will be available at the San Luis Obispo (Lot 2) and North County (Lot 11) campuses.

The Promise Scholarship is the result of a more than $8 million donation to the Cuesta College Foundation from the Charles and Leeta Dovica Family Trust, who requested the funds be used for scholarships. The scholarship endowment, created in the fall of 2013, pays for the per-unit cost of classes, health fees, Associated Students of Cuesta College fees, materials fees, Student Center fees, and the Student Rep fee. Approximately $344K in scholarships have been provided by the earnings of the endowment. For more information, go to www.cuesta.edu and click on the Promise icon.
