Insiders report that Pacific Gas & Electric is working to expand its local footprint in order to enhance its operations at Diablo Canyon. PG&E is currently in discussions to purchase a large parcel of land by the SLO County Airport in order to improve redundancy in its facilities and grow its capabilities in the future. A new building – that at a minimum is expected to be around 8,000-12,000 square feet – is anticipated for the location. If PG&E completes the purchase this spring, design and construction of the facility will follow.
