Cal Poly’s Western Bonanza Junior Livestock Show will be celebrating its 29th year of existence this President’s Day weekend at the Paso Robles Event Center in Paso Robles, CA. Beginning Friday, February 15 through Sunday, February 17, 2013, the general public and livestock enthusiast are invited to attend this free event.

Western Bonanza began as a senior project in 1985. Western Bonanza has grown into the largest student-run jackpot show on the west coast with four species showing twice in a double show format. A management team of 30 Cal Poly students and more than 100 committee members host the junior livestock show with more than 450 exhibitors.

Exhibitors ranging in ages from 9 to 19 gather each year in Paso Robles to show off their prized livestock in hopes the judge will choose their animal as champion. The exhibitors come from all over the Western United States including Arizona and Oregon. The student leaders chose this year’s theme as racing and the slogan of “See You at the Finish Line.” They are excited to showcase the past six-months of planning as the management team begins in fall quarter with by the addition of 100 students in winter quarter with the Livestock Show Management class.

Along with the livestock show, Western Bonanza houses a tradeshow with vendors including western apparel, accessories and animal feed companies. For those unable to attend the show, the event is broadcasted live online. For more information about Cal Poly’s Western Bonanza and a full show schedule visit www.westernbonanza.calpoly.edu.
