A strong business turnout—including more than 20 Chamber leaders – participated in the city’s community forum last night that drew an estimated 170 attendees, about 35 percent fewer than in recent years. The forum is an opportunity for community members to express their top priorities to the city council for the coming two-year budget cycle. The finalized goals determine where city resources will be allocated. Chamber priorities – implementation of the Economic Development Strategic Plan, revitalization of Mission Plaza downtown and long-term, ongoing fiscal health – were among the top ideas of the night. The forum also drew strong representation from a coalition of skate park advocates, the SLO County Bicycle Coalition, the Downtown Association, Residents for Quality Neighborhoods and others. City Council members will reveal their top seven goals at an all-day meeting on Jan. 26.
