Start off the holiday season with one of the community’s most beloved holiday spectacles. The Downtown Association invites you to its 41st Annual Holiday Parade in Downtown San Luis Obispo on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m.
This year’s parade theme is “Dashing Through the SLO” and the Downtown Association with hundreds of parade participants will be getting into their one-horse open sleighs and dashing through the streets of Downtown SLO.
Grand Marshal Ann Reeves, longtime Downtown business owner, will kick off the procession at Palm and Chorro streets.
“I am quite honored and proud to be this year’s Parade Marshal. I was taken by surprise and flattered at the same time to hear I had been selected. I have been part of the Downtown community for so many years and really love our Downtown. There are few downtowns in the nation that are as healthy and vibrant as ours and it’s only going to get better.” – Ann Reeves
Look forward to bright floats, festive marching bands, classic carolers, skateboarding elves, and Santa himself dashing down the streets of Downtown San Luis Obispo. The parade route is nine blocks long starting on Chorro Street at Palm Street and ending on Higuera at Nipomo Street. A detailed map is available at downtownslo.com and will also be available in the Downtown SLO Holiday Happenings guide.
Parade entries will be competing for Best in Theme, Most Creative and Most Entertaining. Ten parade announcers will be stationed along the nine-block parade route ensuring every spectator has a front row seat.
The 41st Annual Holiday Parade is presented by Wells Fargo Bank and brought to you by San Luis Obispo Downtown Association. Sponsors include Coastal Rolloff, Fatte’s Pizza, Central Coast Gymnastic, Comet Realty, Old SLO Trolley (City of SLO), Woodstock’s Pizza, Trust Automation, Coastal Pediatric Dentistry.
