CAROL WILLIAMS – Forbes Pipe Organ Recital – November 8, 2015 – 3 p.m. – Cohan Center
British-born Carol Williams has been performing organ recitals since she was eight years old and went on to receive numerous awards during her formal training at the Royal Academy of Music. Since then, her prowess at the organ has taken her to popular venues all over the world, including Walt Disney Concert Hall, Notre Dame, Westminster Abbey, and St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Williams strives to give a different spin to her classical pipe organ concerts with programs of intense genre diversity, elegance and charismatic humor. “I want to bring the pipe organ to new audiences,” she explains. Her Cohan Center afternoon will include sweeping original works, classics by Susato, Kittel, Tournemire, and Mozart, as well a tune by Al Jolson and Buddy DeSylva and rousing music from the popular “Phantom of the Opera.”
