Owners of Robin’s Restaurant, Novo Restaurant & Lounge, Luna Red, and Café Fiero have opened their fifth eatery, Mint+Craft café and mercantile, on Monterey Street in the new Chinatown development, next to Williams Sonoma and Thomas Hill Organics. The fast-casual menu sources high-quality local ingredients for breakfast and lunch toasties, cassoulet-inspired dinner dishes, fresh salads and deli goods, pastries, and meals made to-go or enjoyed on the open air patio. The mercantile features a collection of small batch, handcrafted goods made by artisans from around the country.
“We shop locally and around the nation to bring you quality products you can feel good about consuming and sharing,” owner Shanny Covey said.
Mint+Craft also offers an assortment of grab and go items such as non-alcoholic beverages, local cheese, fresh produce, packaged snacks, as well as, a wine and beer shop. The wine and beer program comes from Kielly Lewis, the restaurant group’s Assistant Wine Director, and her passion for great local and unique producers.
“Our ‘wine and beer shop’ may be small and humble, however, the items selected are nothing short of extraordinary,” Samantha Payette, Wine Director, said. “For our beer selection, there was no need to look outside of California; the wines, no need to look outside of the Central Coast. In all cases, we looked for smaller producers who take their craft seriously, yet offer up their products with levity and a bit of whimsy.”
All wines and beers are priced at wine shop/retail pricing rather than traditional restaurant pricing with the hope that patrons will drop by after work or school to purchase and enjoy at home. They may also be consumed on site on the patio, for a $10 corkage fee. Bottles brought in to enjoy on site will be subject to a $15 corkage fee.
Mint+Craft is located at 848 Monterey Street, San Luis Obispo. Open 7 days a week, 7a.m. to 9p.m., for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
