Start off the holiday season with one of the community’s most beloved holiday spectacles. Downtown SLO invite the public to its 42nd Annual Holiday Parade in Downtown San Luis Obispo on Friday, December 1st at 7 PM. This year’s parade theme is “Holiday Hoedown”, and Downtown SLO and hundreds of parade participants will be getting into their one-horse open sleighs and dashing through the streets of Downtown San Luis Obispo.
Bob Douglass, the former owner of SLO Luggage, will serve as the Parade Marshal for the 42nd Annual Holiday Parade. The parade features bright floats, festive marching bands, classic carolers, skateboarding elves, and Santa himself. The parade route is nine blocks long starting on Chorro at Palm and ending on Higuera at Nipomo. The parade is the largest on the Central Coast and attracts upwards of 10,000 spectators.
Parade entries will be competing for Best in Theme, Most Creative, and Most Entertaining. Ten parade announcers will be stationed along the nine-block parade route ensuring every spectator has a front row seat. This event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public. Applications to be a part of the parade are available HERE. Applications are due November 3, 2017 at noon.
