“Olas Portola Fuente Seca”, San Luis Obispo’s first kinetic art piece, will be formally dedicated with a public ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 7 at 4:00 PM at the intersection of Marsh and Higuera. Light refreshments will be served. The art piece was created by kinetic sculptor Jeffrey Laudenslager and light sculptor Deanne Sabeck, both Southern California artists with numerous public art pieces. The sculpture stands 30 feet high and was constructed on the site of a former fountain created by the Monday Club in 1967.
