After two weeks of public voting and 4,143 votes, The Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County has been chosen as the recipient of the 2017 24-Hour Give. That means The Women’s Shelter Program will be receiving a total rebrand from Verdin and a team of community partners completed in 24 hours’ time, worth more than $105,000.
The nonprofit was chosen out of two finalists that were announced to the public on October 9. The other finalist, Community Counseling Center, will be receiving a package of services as well – including marketing consultation, printing, media time and space, and board meeting space – valued at more than $8,000.
The Women’s Shelter Program addresses the local impact of domestic violence and child abuse in a holistic approach that takes in the welfare of not only the individual but also the family and community that surrounds each case. This organization’s mission is to stop the cycle of violence by providing crisis intervention, emergency shelter, advocacy, treatment, prevention and education. They are able to do this through a series of comprehensive and multicultural services that protect and provide for those who have experienced domestic partner violence.
Nonprofits often lack funding for the visibility that is essential for them to carry on their work. That’s why four years ago, Verdin decided to take the time and energy that used to go into planning the agency’s holiday party to do what they do best – perform branding and marketing services – to make a real difference for a local organization.
The 24-Hour Give will take place over 24 consecutive hours from November 9-10, 2017. During that time, Verdin will strategize and develop all of the pieces of a rebrand. Local businesses have stepped up to partner with Verdin so that the winner’s package includes a new logo and identity, website, TV and radio PSAs, print ads, marketing plan, printed collateral, an advertising campaign, donated ad space to run the campaign, and more. You can read about the specific contributions of each business partner at verdinmarketing.com/blog/what-gives/.
In addition to the work performed during the 24 hours, Verdin will host a simultaneous Give-a-thon, collecting both monetary and in-kind donations for The Women’s Shelter Program. Members of the community are encouraged to call in with a pledge in any amount, at any time during the 24 hours of the Give. The community is also invited to stop by the Verdin office between 4-6 p.m. on November 9 to deliver an in-kind donation. Items that will benefit The Women’s Shelter Program are non-perishable foods, diapers and pull-ups, toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, craft supplies, stuffed animals, journals, gift cards no larger than $20-$50 to Walmart, Target, grocery stores and gas stations. Monetary donations will help the organization continue to provide vital counseling and response services that are proven to make it possible for survivors and their children to rebuild lives without violence.
Verdin encourages the community to follow the action from November 9-10 on Facebook and Instagram. For more information about the 24-Hour Give, visit verdinmarketing.com/24hourgive.
