Mountainbrook Church in San Luis Obispo has a vision – “To change the world through the love & power of Jesus, one life at a time”.

A nondenominational church that is part of the Vineyard Movement, Mountainbrook takes time each year to call a “time out” and focus on how they can change the world. During the month of September, the church took that time out and focused on their “Change the World” campaign learning about two non-profits: Holt International and the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County.

On September 24, 2017, Mountainbrook Church took up a collection during their two Sunday services. $9,000 was collected for the Food Bank Coalition of SLO County.

“What an incredible blessing it has been for Mountainbrook Church to partner with the Food Bank Coalition of SLO County over the last decade. Knowing that they are feeding the hungry right here in our own backyard is wonderfully amazing,” said Thom O’Leary, lead pastor of Mountainbrook Church.

Additionally, Mountainbrook youth raised over $1,000 for the Food Bank at their Kid’s Camp this past June.

In San Luis Obispo County, 1 in 6 of our neighbors face hunger, that’s over 46,000 children, seniors, families and individuals who are unsure of where their next meal will come from. The Food Bank works with a network of community partners to alleviate hunger and build a healthier community in San Luis Obispo County.

“We are so fortunate to have 108 non-profits, including Mountainbrook Church, in SLO County who actively work with us to distribute food to those in need,” said Susan Olson, director of development at the Food Bank Coalition of SLO County.

Also during September, Mountainbrook Church members signed up to sponsor 100 children for Holt International.
