Tickets for 2018 edition go on sale Feb. 1
The 78th annual Poly Royal Rodeo will once again be staged in Cal Poly’s premiere arena — the Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
The rodeo will be held April 13-14 at the Spanos Stadium, with two back-to-back evening performances followed by a headline concert Saturday night. The venue allows for a capacity of 11,000 spectators each night. The rodeo is part of Cal Poly’s annual Open House event.
“The Poly Royal Rodeo has been a part of Cal Poly for nearly eight decades,” Coach Ben Londo said. “Last year, with hard work and community support, we made history by putting on the largest collegiate rodeo in the nation. We are ready to do it again.”
Tickets will go on sale Feb. 1 at https://tickets.calpoly.edu. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cal Poly Rodeo Program.
College rodeo athletes from all over the West Coast will compete for a championship in events such as barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, and steer wrestling. The rodeo will also include stunts, clown acts, calf dressing, and more.
The rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, April 13, and will include kid-friendly activities. Children under 10 years old get in free. Tickets are $20 for students, $25 for general admission and $40 for chair-back seats.
The final rodeo event at 5:50 p.m. Saturday, April 14, will include a live post-show concert, with headliner to be announced soon. Tickets are $10 for children ages 2 to 10, $25 for students, $30 for general admission, and $50 for chair-back seats. Admission is free for children under 2.
