Sea turtles appeared in our oceans roughly 150
million years ago, before the dinosaurs. However in the
past 100 years, demand for turtle products and habitat
destruction has dwindled their populations.
Hear from the author of the book The ABC’s of
Sea Turtles and what inspired him to publish a book
about these beloved marine reptiles. Learn about all 7
turtle species, what is being done to conserve their
populations, and what you can do to help.
Larry Madrigal has a B.S. in Aquatic Toxicology from
UCD, and an M.A. in Biological Science from UCSB. He has over 25 years of teaching experience with an emphasis in marine biology, and spent 16 years teaching in Samoa. He has also been awarded multiple awards for his teaching excellence. In the summer of 2012, Madrigal worked with leatherback sea turtles on Trinidad Island. This experience is what ultimately led him to publish his book, The ABC’s of Sea Turtles.
