hearst cancer researchFrench Hospital Medical Center’s Hearst Cancer Resource Center is pleased to invite the community to a free Survivorship Symposium about finding peace and purpose after a cancer diagnosis. A two-time stage 4 metastatic breast cancer survivor, featured keynote speaker Ginger Johnson is an international speaker, author, and the founder of the Survivor Soul Project. She has been featured in a variety of media outlets including NBCNews.com, USA Today, and Standup2Cancer, as well as many publications and magazines.

In addition, local speakers Stephen Hilty, MD, Internal Medicine, Flora Washburn, BCC Manager, Spiritual Care for the Dignity Health Central Coast Service Area, and Gila Zak, C.Ht (Certified Hypnotherapist), will educate the community on how to transform your challenges into tools for success, rediscover your worth, and create a life you love.

The event will be held at noon on Friday, June 22 at the Copeland Health Education Pavilion Auditorium, third floor, located on the French Hospital campus at 1911 Johnson Avenue, San Luis Obispo. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m., lunch will be served at noon, and the program will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Admission is free but space is limited. Reservations are required by calling the Hearst Cancer Resource Center at 805-542-6234.

Featured speaker Ginger Johnson was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, when 31 years old and 5 months pregnant, then re-diagnosed in 2015 with stage 4 metastatic disease. Since her clean bill of health, she has been an active advocate promoting greater hope, health and happiness in the cancer community and world abroad. Ginger is now on a mission to share what she has learned to help others discover greater meaning, purpose and direction in life.

This program is made possible through the support of the Martin Hulburd Family Cancer Education Fund to the Hearst Cancer Resource Center, and is offered as a community service.
