ABOUT THE SHOW

The story centers upon Pseudolus, a crafty slave, who struggles to win the hand of a beautiful courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, long lost children and much laughter. This light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent show takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from the time-tested, 2000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright, Plautus, with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville, incomparable music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and hilarious book by Larry Gelbart and Burt Shevelove. As the song says: “Something familiar, something peculiar, something for everyone, a comedy tonight!”
