Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the recent installation of a Philips Ingenuity 128-Slice CT system to provide the latest in CT imaging technology to better serve the needs of the community. The new scanner will enhance hospital services in a number of ways.
The Ingenuity 128-Slice CT features advanced capabilities that provide the highest level of patient care and comfort. With the installation complete, Sierra Vista is able to provide the latest advances in low radiation dose imaging. In the past, radiologists had to use higher radiation output to obtain optimal diagnostic image quality. Now, this breakthrough technology generates quality images utilizing a lower radiation dose.
“Radiation dosage during CT scanning is a concern among many of our patients,” said Nathan Nybakke, Director of Imaging, Cardiovascular and Outpatient Services at Sierra Vista. “We wanted to make sure we addressed those concerns and share the importance of low radiation dose technology.”
While dose reduction is beneficial for all patients, it is significant for the pediatric population.
The Ingenuity 128-Slice CT includes sophisticated technology that helps correct imaging for patients with large metal implants, which in the past often ruled out CT scans for these patients. This benefit allows more patients to utilize CT imaging.
Finally, the addition of brain perfusion scanning capabilities enhances Sierra Vista’s interventional neurology program. Brain perfusion imaging assesses blood flow to various parts of the brain and guides medical decision-making and how to best treat the patient.
“This significant upgrade of our Computerized Tomography equipment is just one example of the tremendous capital investment in new technology we have made, and will continue to make as we continue to provide the services needed to help everyone in our communities live healthier and happier lives,” said Mark Lisa, CEO of Sierra Vista.
