Lynette Sonne of FARMstead Ed and Barbara Hartley of Hartley Farms join us to talk about Farmstead Education and stone fruit jams.
In 2014, Lynette Sonne launched FARMstead ED as a way to promote locally grown & locally made products through pop-up workshops and helping connect locals to farms, ranches & production facilities while educating them about where our food is being grown & made.
Getting folks out to farms is just one part: Lynette also partners her tours with an educational component. Most events typically include a site tour, a farmstead demonstration, a hands-on workshop and a pop-up mercantile that’s often stocked with the materials necessary for you to do-it-yourself at home.
Barbara Hartley will also be sharing with the group her locally made jams. Barbara and her husband, Dan, grew up in rural Somis, California and went to grade school together. Twenty years later, they met again and fell in love and have both shared a passion for San Luis Obispo County and farming. They started Hartley Farms in 2014 and developed a 37 acre property into a farm and wedding venue.
