Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP) is hiring two local representatives to staff the agency’s San Luis Obispo office space. In anticipation of MBCP service beginning for the cities of Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo in January 2020, as well as MBCP’s expansion to Paso Robles, Pismo Beach, Arroyo Grande, Grover Beach, Guadalupe, Santa Maria, Solvang, Goleta, Carpinteria and Unincorporated Santa Barbara County in early 2021, the fast-growing public agency expects to create even more jobs in the near future.

The first position for which MBCP is seeking candidates is an Energy Public Engagement Associate. The Energy Public Engagement Associate works under direction of the Manager of Community Relations and will have a wide range of responsibilities for advancing MBCP’s strategic community outreach efforts and advocacy for the organization during enrollment across MBCP’s growing service area in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties.

The second position is an Energy Accounts Specialist. Working under direction of the Manager of Energy Account Services, the Energy Accounts Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of account related matters, including customer service, business development, and energy analytics. This position will work with MBCP’s key business accounts, data manager and Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. The Energy Accounts Specialist will also assist with event outreach and presentations.

With these new, full-time positions with benefits, MBCP is contributing to the growth of green-collar jobs along California’s Central Coast, a region which MBCP anticipates becoming an important hub for renewable energy resources in the future. “Both San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties possess unique characters that provide abundant opportunities for the growth of new renewable energy development. MBCP is excited to contribute to the Central Coast becoming an important hub for renewable energy and for new green-collar jobs,” shares MBCP CEO, Tom Habashi.

MBCP is committed to a growing investment in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. For more information about career opportunities at Monterey Bay Community Power please go to mbcommunitypower.org/careers/.
