humankind fair trade San Luis Obispo County residents interested in sustainable fashion and labor rights are invited to a free upcoming event at the new Hotel San Luis Obispo.

HumanKind Fair Trade and SLOTH Fashion have partnered to present “Cultivating Your Conscious Closet with Author Elizabeth Cline” on October 25 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hotel San Luis Obispo, the much-anticipated new hotel opening soon in downtown San Luis Obispo. Tickets are free at eventbrite.com, but space is limited.

Event guests will also enjoy a talk and Q&A with the critically acclaimed New York-based author and journalist, a sewing station, a no-host bar, and a Sustainable Business Expo featuring local businesses and nonprofits. Event partners include Downtown SLO, Marine Layer, Fred & Betty’s, Picking Daisies, Studio Stitch, Junk Girls, Takken’s, Mountain Air, EcoBambino, Office Hours, Finders Keepers, and A Change of Dress.

She will also sign copies of her new book, “The Conscious Closet,” which was released last month.

The store offers fair trade products made by artisans in the developing world.
