The 33rd annual Evening in Greece, a fundraiser for St. Andrew the Apostle Greek Orthodox Church, was held recently on Saturday, October 19th at the Veterans Hall, 801 Grand Avenue in San Luis Obispo. This family-friendly event has been St. Andrew’s way of showing the community the true meaning of Greek culture and hospitality, and this year helped provide for the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County. Fr. Silviu Stanculescu and other parish members, including philanthropist Jim Sargen, presented Chief Executive Officer of the Food Bank Coalition, Kevin Drabinski and Director of Programs, Andrea Keisler, with a check for $2,000 from the proceeds of the event on Thursday, October 31.

After touring the operations of the Food Bank facility, St. Andrew’s is applying to become an agency partner to help feed those in need. This will aid in St. Andrew’s other community outreach of providing and serving a hot meal at 40 Prado Homeless Services Center to over 100 people each month.
Outreach programs supported by St. Andrew are the Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County, the SLO Noor Foundation, 40 Prado Homeless Services Center, Kids ‘n Cancer, and more. These outreach programs play a critical role in helping those in need.
