The City of San Luis Obispo has launched a new resource to connect community members with local businesses offering online shopping during the COVID-19 Shelter at Home Order. The SLO Virtual Shopping Map is available on the City’s COVID-19 webpage and showcases safe, online shopping options offered by businesses in San Luis Obispo.
“We have received tremendous feedback on the recently launched online restaurant map and we have now created a similar resource for local retail outlets with online stores.” City Manager Derek Johnson said.
Since being published in late March, the SLO Take-out/Delivery map has received over 8,000 visits and includes listings from over 150 eateries in San Luis Obispo. The City anticipates that the virtual shopping map will be a helpful resource for the community as well, already featuring nearly 100 businesses. To be included on the map, businesses can complete a simple online form. Both maps are available on the City’s COVID19 response website and are shared via social media, encouraging community members to be patrons of local virtual businesses.
The City is also supporting local businesses with online resources and online access to a variety of City services. The Business Resource section on the City’s COVID-19 website provides a comprehensive listing of important links and information to assist businesses with navigating the Shelter at Home Order and accessing financial assistance. There is also a business resource toolkit with informational signage for businesses to use to ensure compliance with physical distancing requirements.
The City is also continuing to process housing and infrastructure projects as allowed under the Shelter at Home Order and while following all necessary safety guidelines. The Community Development Department has implemented a variety of online options to suppor essential services and economic recovery through timely permit processing including online application submittals and payment.
