United Way is planning their Fourteenth Annual Stuff the Bus! United Way of San Luis Obispo is recruiting businesses to host Workplace Collection Sites and up to 150 Volunteers are needed countywide at five bus sites to accept donations from the public and sort donations on the bus. United Way is inviting you (or a team) to volunteer this summer to help them STUFF THE BUS! Volunteers are needed countywide and opportunities include: greeters, donation collectors, sorters, site coordinators and a set-up crew at each site.
Many local students and teachers are in need of the supplies necessary to begin the year successfully. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, more than 4,000 students in need received donated supplies countywide, but there were about 1,000 students still in need of supplies.
Businesses, groups and individuals are also invited to become a Stuff the Bus sponsor and to apply to be a Workplace Collection Site to help provide additional locations that are convenient to employees and the public to drop off donated school supplies that students need to succeed. Join United Way of San Luis Obispo County and KSBY to help others in our community by partnering with us to ‘Stuff the Bus’.
From August 12th-14th, the following locations in SLO County will have a bus on site and will accept donations of new school supplies:
- Walmart-Arroyo Grande
- Staples-San Luis Obispo
- Staples-Atascadero
- Cookie Crock-Cambria
- Walmart-Paso Robles
Volunteer Site Leaders and five to six volunteers per shift are needed to be on hand to accept and sort donations on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are three volunteer shifts available at five locations countywide.
