John Conner – the proprietor of the Petit Soleil Bed and Breakfast in San Luis Obispo – plans to throw his hat into the fall mayoral race. Conner, who moved to SLO in 1995 to manage the Embassy Suites Hotel, has been very active in the local tourism arena. He led the formation of the San Luis Obispo Tourism Business Improvement District and served as chair of two city advisory bodies, the SLO TBID as well as the Promotional Coordinating Committee. Currently, he is the only individual who has expressed an interest to run against incumbent Mayor Jan Marx, who intends to seek reelection this fall. Filing period for the mayoral race is open from July 14 to Aug. 8. Election Day is Nov. 4.
