On July 1st, 1988, Susan Polk hung out a shingle in SLO on Foothill Boulevard near Chorro Street, and Susan Polk Insurance was born. Susan had one simple mission: to provide families and individuals on the Central Coast with access to affordable health insurance. Thirty-five years later, they’ve made that mission a reality by serving tens of thousands of individuals in SLO County and beyond.
All along the way, they’ve kept that same commitment to compassionate, personalized service and insurance expertise that they had when they first opened their doors.
Serving the community has been a hallmark of Susan Polk Insurance since day one. Over the years, they’ve helped spearhead numerous efforts to bring accessible health insurance to SLO County, including the Major Risk Medical Insurance Program in 1991, the Healthy Families Program in 1998, and the Children’s Health Initiative in 2005, among several others.
As Susan Polk Insurance reflects on this important milestone, they continue to be as excited about the opportunities that lie ahead as they are appreciative of the successes of the past. For the next 35 years and beyond, they aim to continue providing unparalleled Medicare expertise, personalized relationships with clients whom they know and care for, and innovative, simplified service that allows them to meet clients’ needs with more efficiency than ever.
