The Central Coast Children’s Choir is kicking off their 20th season by accepting new members this August and September. SLO County girls and boys can join Debut Choir, grades 2-3; Apprentice Choir, grades 4-6; Premiere Choir, grades 5-9 and Concert Choir, grades 6-12.

Rehearsals start at the end of August for the two oldest choirs and a friendly but thorough audition is required to place new upper elementary, junior and senior high singers in the appropriate level based on their experience, music skills and their vocal ability. Please call for an audition time with a director.

Elementary school students interested in Debut or Apprentice Choir do not need to audition. Singers and parents are encouraged to attend an open house rehearsal on Tuesday, Sept. 10th. Debut Choir 4-5 p.m. and Apprentice Choir 4:45-6 p.m. Tuesday rehearsals take place at the SLO United Methodist Church at 1515 Fredricks Street. North County Debut Choir is also offered on Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. at Atascadero Fine Arts Academy, room 101. Interested singers are invited to visit starting Sept. 11th.

Children in kindergarten and first grade can enroll in Music Makers, a nine week interactive music class starting September 24th. Classes take place in SLO on Tuesdays and Atascadero on Wednesdays from 3:05-3:50 p.m. The last session culminates with an in-class performance.

All of the choirs will share their music with the community during CCCC’s annual Holiday Concert, Winter Reflections, during the weekend of December 14th and 15th. Identical concerts will be performed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Paso Robles and SLO United Methodist Church. CCCC singers will also be performing in a community collaboration of the opera, “Carmen” on Oct. 12th and 13th, at Bravo SLO! on October 19th and the Forbes Organ Holiday Sing-Along on December 22nd, all at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo. The Premiere and Concert Choirs will finish this 20th Anniversary Season with a trip to England in July, with performances at the Canterbury Cathedral and in London.
