At a special SLO City Council meeting yesterday, four of five council members honored the voters who approved Measure G with 70 percent of the vote by appointing five city residents to a newly formed oversight commission. The Citizens’ Revenue Enhancement Oversight Commission will be tasked with reviewing independent audits of Measure G expenditures. Of the fourteen applications that were originally received five members were chosen. They include: Jeri Carrol (controller, ClearWater Tech, LLC), Amy Kardel (co-founder, Clever Ducks), Ken Kienow (owner, Ken Kienow Wedding Photography), Mike Multari (lecturer, Cal Poly) and Hillary Trout (CPA). Council member Dan Carpenter declined to participate in the appointment process. Although the commission has been created to function like other city advisory bodies – namely to increase public engagement and understanding of Measure G, and to conduct reviews of independent audits – Carpenter did not support the formation of the group and ultimately voted “no” to all five appointees, ending in a 4:1 approval. e-Insider
