In partnership with the San Luis Obispo Child Abuse Prevention Council and Cuesta College Early Childhood Education Department, Cuesta College will host the 2013 Child Abuse Prevention Academy on Friday, April 26, 2013, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Cuesta College Associated Student Auditorium, Room 5401. Free parking will be available in Lot 2.
Registration for the academy is required. Cuesta College students can register by calling 546-3263 and community members and providers can register by emailing [email protected] or by calling 543-6216. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
Discussion topics will include:
• California child abuse and neglect reporting law
• Perinatal substance use and impact on the developing child
• Strengthening families and five protective factors
• San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare System and differential response
• How to recognize child physical and sexual abuse
