Cuesta 170Eleven students of Cuesta College’s Paramedic Program will graduate on Friday, September 12, at 6:00 p.m. on the San Luis Obispo Campus in room 5401.

The graduation ceremony will feature keynote speaker San Luis Obispo City Fire Department Chief Jeff Gator, two student speakers and be attended by various local fire agencies. The event will also include recognitions of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) contributors and the presentation of the annual Dave Melendy EMS Recognition Award, which was first awarded at last year’s graduation ceremony to Kyle Parker.

“The award is intended to honor someone who is performing a public service that is above and beyond the call of duty, someone who values volunteerism and is doing it for the love of humanity,” said Linda Melendy, wife of the late Dave Melendy, who was a prominent local paramedic and instrumental in the creation of Cuesta’s Paramedic Program.

The graduation ceremony is not open to the public. For more information, please call (805) 546-3100, ext. 2283.
