Cuesta College’s nearly 8,500 students will see increased library hours in North County and receive free bus rides the first weeks of class when spring semester classes begin Tuesday, Jan. 22.
Students can add a class with an instructor’s approval until Feb. 3. Check class availability by clicking on “Find Classes” link on Cuesta.edu.
As of Monday, Jan. 14 — with more than a week till the start of classes — 8,486 students were registered to take courses on Cuesta’s San Luis Obispo and North County campuses, its South County Center at Arroyo Grande High School or online through the college’s Distance Education program for the spring semester, which continues through May 24.
The student headcount is down compared with last year, but those students are taking a greater number of classes. As a result, the college’s full-time equivalent student count, which is based on a formula, is nearly 135 ahead of where it was in 2012. Cuesta receives approximately $5,000 in state funding for every full time equivalent student served.
Thanks to a generous grant by the Harold J. Miossi Charitable Trust, the college is again teaming up with Regional Transit Authority to offer free bus service for Cuesta students the first two weeks of class — Jan. 22 through Feb. 1. Students attending the college’s North County campus in Paso Robles ride free on Route No. 9 year-round. Reduced rates on 31-day RTA passes for Cuesta students are available at the Main Campus Cashier’s Office for $40 while supplies last.
Cuesta College’s North County campus will offer extended library hours from February to April. The Schwartz Learning Resource Center will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Feb. 9 and 23; March 9 and 23; and April 13 and 27.
Walk-in registration continues through Thursday, Jan. 17, at:
• SLO campus Student Service Center, Building 3100, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• North County campus, 2800 Buena Vista Drive, Building N3000, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• South County Center, Arroyo Grande High School Administration Building, 900 Wing, located near Orchard Avenue, 4 to 9 p.m.
Students can also register online. For more information, call 546-3100 or visit Cuesta.edu.
