Digital West Networks, Inc., which provides commercial-grade Internet connectivity, collocation and cloud services to businesses, has successfully completed a Type I SOC 2 examination. The exam, known as SSAE16, which stands for Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements SSAE No. 16, is the authoritative guide used by CPAs to review service controls at an organization. The auditors conducted an objective evaluation of the controls Digital West has in place to protect its clients’ data security and availability. The examination was performed by an independent CPA firm, Brightline CPAs & Associates, Inc. and focused specifically on Digital West’s data center and collocation services.

Engaging in the SOC 2 exam is a demonstration of Digital West’s commitment to world class data services, and establishes it as the only carrier neutral data center between Santa Clara and Los Angeles Counties to have passed this rigorous evaluation. “One of the reasons we chose Digital West over other providers is their reliability, technical expertise and great customer service. Participating in a SOC exam is a big commitment, and it isn’t easy. It gives us one more reason to feel confident in our choice,” said Bill Donohue, CIO of MINDBODY, an area software provider and Digital West customer.

Passing the Type I exam sets the stage for Digital West to begin preparing for the Type 2 exam, which will further evaluate the effectiveness of its operational controls. Digital West had previously participated in several successful PCI Level I Compliance audits for its clients, a designation by the payment card industry that the organization secures credit card information at the highest levels.

“Our customers have always had great faith in our ability to securely store and manage their critical business data. The SOC 2 exam is simply an affirmation of that trust,” said Tim Williams, founder and CEO of Digital West. “It positions us to continue expanding our robust, carrier–‐neutral, data center services to even more clients.”
