The Housing Collaborative of the Central Coast’s mission is to bring the community together to exchange information and work toward solutions to create housing opportunities on the Central Coast. This year’s SLO County Housing Summit will engage its audience of housing advocates, community and economic development leaders with policy creators and implementers on local successes, real world challenges and innovative solutions that are working in similar regions.
Speakers will share insight and opine on:
- A snapshot of our region’s housing inventory, potential buyers and successes
- The rungs of the housing ladder and how we can support people at all levels of income levels
- Real estate, financing and housing loan options for developers and buyers
- Case studies from communities that have succeeded with innovative approaches
- The biggest hinderances to home creation and the unforeseen challenges of well intentioned programs
- How we can work together and take action to achieve regional housing goals
Local leaders will share progress already made in our county through panel discussions and guest speakers that will offer you a chance to learn more about the importance of centering diversity in housing options and successful housing progress in neighboring regions.

Sanjay has been with the California Association of Realtors since 2003. As their chief lobbyist, he supervises the policy and political work of the Government Affairs Department. Prior to his work in Governmental Affairs, Sanjay served as an attorney in CAR’s Member Legal Services Department. He has published several articles on legal topics affecting real estate licensees. Sanjay received his law degree from the University of Southern California (USC), an M.A. from UCLA and his B.A. from the University of Chicago.

Noni is Chief Executive Officer of Housing Trust Silicon Valley, a certified Community Development Financial Institution working across the 14-county greater Bay Area. Since its inception in 2000, Housing Trust has invested over $555 million to create and preserve nearly 27,000 affordable homes. Under Noni’s leadership, Housing Trust has continued to use transformative housing finance and public and private partnerships to create more equitable and affordable communities. Her background spans more than 30 years working in the affordable housing field.
Jocelyn Brennan
President/CEO, HRM Consultants
Jocelyn has been involved in various roles related to policy, development and strategic planning at the state, county and city levels, including as District Director for the 35th Assembly District and President and CEO of the South County Chambers of Commerce. In her current role as Government Affairs Director for Region 31 for the San Luis Obispo Coastal Association of Realtors, she helps with pro-housing policy, government relations and advocacy. Jocelyn recently started HRM Consultants, a firm that focuses on housing entitlement, stakeholder engagement and government relations.
Cornel Morton
Board President, Diversity Coalition San Luis Obispo County
Cornel N. Morton, Ph.D. is Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Vice President for Student Affairs, Emeritus. He has served as a consultant to public and private organizations in areas including diversity awareness, student success, inclusivity, strategic planning, team building and conflict mediation. His community service includes membership on the French Hospital Community Board, Board Member of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Committee and Lifelong Learners of the Central Coast Advisory Board.

Aaryn Abbott
Vice President, Abbott | Reed
Aaryn joined Abbott | Reed in 2010. Today, he’s an owner whose expertise of complex construction operations, finance and legal matters are respected among the team. A Cal Poly alum, he earned a Masters of Real Estate Development degree at USC before becoming a licensed California Real Estate Broker. As a dynamic member of the Home Builders Association of the Central Coast and the SLO Chamber of Commerce, Aaryn is driven to make housing more accessible and sustainable. For the past 20 years, he’s been entitling, designing, financing and building housing communities here on the Central Coast, helping to deliver over 1,000 single and multi-family homes to the area.
Donna Lewis

Donna sees the impact of high housing costs daily while working with hopeful buyers struggling to put all the pieces together to purchase a home in SLO County. She has been deeply involved in housing issues throughout her 30+ year career in the mortgage business. She’s a longtime member of the Housing Coalition of the Central Coast, which organizes the SLO County Housing Summit, and has handled the majority of financing for the City of SLO’s Below Market Rate Housing program over the past 15+ years.
Tony Tomasello
Manager of Planning, RRM Design Group
As Manager of Planning at RRM with additional experience in State housing law, the Coastal Act and construction management, Tony’s projects span the spectrum from private and non-profit housing and mixed-use development projects to large scale subdivisions, public sector master plans and housing policy implementation. From strategic land use consulting, expediting entitlements and associated permits, interfacing with government and community members and leading multi-disciplinary teams through the development process, Tony ensures that each project’s development and programmatic goals are met and aligned with the community’s policies and vision for its future.
Nick Tompkins
Owner, NKT Commercial, LLC
Nick is a fifth-generation Central Coast resident who began his career as a vegetable farmer in Guadalupe. Nick was co-founder and served as President and CEO of Apio, Inc., and in 2005, he began to invest more of his time and capital in his real estate ventures across Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. In 2019, San Luis Obispo Farm Bureau awarded Nick’s family real estate investment entity, NKT Commercial, Business of the Year. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of People’s Self-Help Housing, a non-profit entity which is the largest developer of affordable housing on the Central Coast of California.
Ken Trigueiro
CEO and President, People’s Self-Help Housing
Since joining PSHH in 2005, Ken has served in many roles, including Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President of Real Estate Finance. With extensive experience accumulated through a 30+ year distinguished career in banking and affordable housing, Ken brings an innovative combination of executive skills to his role as CEO & President. He earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Business Management from Cal Poly and his MBA in Finance & Banking from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. His passion is increasing local affordable housing opportunities with supportive services and building on the organization’s strong foundation.
Matthew Moore
Professor, California Polytechnic State University
Matthew Moore is Professor of Political Science at Cal Poly, as well as a faculty fellow in the Office of the President. His area of specialty is political theory, and his recent research examines political ideas in Buddhism. He received his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and has also taught at the University of Vermont.
