Your community newspaper brought to life.

Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.

Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.

Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Thank you to this month’s featured sponsor:

COMMEMORATING JUNETEENTH

More than 150 years after slavery was abolished, Juneteenth is officially a federally recognized holiday. Longtime Paso Robles resident, Lovella Walker, will join us to share the history and importance of this day and what it means for the Black community to come together and celebrate their heritage amongst neighbors and friends.

A STORY TOLD THROUGH REUSE

The City of SLO and the SLO Museum of Art are bringing a brilliant new artist to our community to share her vision through a public arts partnership. Camille Hoffman uses materials collected from childhood and her everyday life to craft imaginary landscapes. She’ll join us to share what we can expect from our community’s newest installation.

A MORE INCLUSIVE TOP SHELF

Whether you’re on a health kick, pregnant, sober or just want to try another option, you can now have your wine and drink it too. Wes Hagen, Market Manager and Brand Ambassador for Miller Family Wines will share the story behind their Hand on Heart label and the trend towards less intoxicating, but no less flavorful wines.

A FUNGUS AMONG US

SLO has long been a hotspot for Valley Fever — a potentially deadly illness found in soil — and recent studies show that climate change is causing the fungal infection to worsen. SLO County Epidemiologist, Jessie Harris, will get us up to speed on how the illness spreads, trends in our County, and how to keep ourselves safe.

SUPPORTING WOMEN’S HEALTH CARE

Women’s reproductive rights have long been under threat, with the stakes as high now as they’ve ever been. Jenna Tosh, President & CEO of Planned Parenthood California Central Coast, will share what they’re doing in California to prepare for a time where a large part of the country could lose essential access to vital health care.

ENDING ON A HIGH NOTE

Cuesta College’s local opera company, Central Coast Gilbert & Sullivan, will give us a taste of famed Gilbert and Sullivan’s beautiful opera Ruddigore.
