Good Morning SLO is our platform for sharing ideas, news and inspiration. A monthly program that brings community leaders, business owners, nonprofit executives and staffers together, and enables us to reconnect, engage and learn from each other.
Our goal is to provide insight into business, community and legislative issues and share the stories of those making a difference. We want audience members to leave with ideas and information about how to better their personal and professional lives.
Good Morning SLO happens on the fourth Thursday of every month except November when it is on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

NEW SPOT ON THE BLOCK
Skipper’s Brew Coffee House prides themselves on creating a LGBTQI+ safe space that feels like home to all. Now, married owners Karen and Shari are embarking upon a new endeavor in addition to the coffee shop: a neighborhood queer cafe. Shari Rubino will join us to share about the new space and why it’s important to create affirming businesses.
WE’RE SLO HEALTHY
Every five years, a community health assessment is conducted for SLO County. The most recent data is in, and the findings are incredibly informative. Dr. Penny Borenstein will join us to share more about where SLO County fares well, like heart disease and diabetes rates, and where we need some improvement, like mental health.
FARMING, FUTURE AND FAREWELL
The SLO County Farm Bureau is one of the oldest organizations in the county, supporting local farmers for 101 years. We’ve invited Executive Director Brent Burchett as he transitions out of his role to share more about his time at the helm, the Farm Bureau’s agricultural advocacy work and his thoughts on the future of ag in California.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO REPAIR
When tech breaks, it’s time to buy something new, right? Luckily, this is no longer the only option in California after a Right to Repair Law was signed last month. Elizabeth Chamberlain, Director of Sustainability at iFixit, will join us to talk about the organization’s role in passing this law and the importance of consumer autonomy in repairing devices.
FOSTERING INNOVATION
San Luis Coastal Unified School District’s Innovation Labs help prepare students to be life-long learners by offering engaging and, well, innovative learning environments. Christine Robertson will join us from San Luis Coastal Education Foundation to share more about the success of these spaces and plans for the future generation of leaders.
REFLECTING ON INDIGENOUS HISTORY
During fall gatherings, we’re challenged to reflect on and honor the rich indigenous culture that’s shaped our region. Becca Lucas, of the yak titʸu titʸu Northern Chumash tribe, will explore the significance of seasonal celebrations, land caring practices and center the importance of giving thanks to this land’s original inhabitants.
CENTRAL COAST CELLO COLLECTIVE
We’ll finish off the last Good Morning SLO of the year with the Central Coast Cello Collective, or C4. Dynamic and explosive, C4 is a quartet of 4 musicians having a blast, playing all genres of music on cello.
