Cal Poly Arts and Opera SLO are pleased to announce the exciting 2015-16 MET LIVE IN HD high-definition screening series held at the Performing Arts Center. Ten world-famous operas will be screened live and in special encore airings throughout the season, broadcast from New York City’s Metropolitan Opera direct to the large screen in Cohan Center.
Tickets for each opera are $22/public and $12 students. For patrons attending operas beginning in the morning hours, delicious box lunches may be ordered in advance from Opera SLO (805/541-5369).
James Levine conducts Wagner’s early masterpiece in its first return to the Met stage in more than a decade. Today’s leading Wagnerian tenor Johan Botha takes on the daunting title role, opposite soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek as Elisabeth, adding another Wagner heroine to her Met repertoire after her acclaimed Sieglinde in the Ring a few seasons ago. On the heels of his recent triumph in Parsifal, baritone Peter Mattei sings Wolfram, and mezzo-soprano Michelle DeYoung is the love goddess, Venus. Sponsored by John Edmisten in memory of Yvonne Edmisten and in celebration of Opera SLO’s 30th Anniversary
All tickets for the operas may be purchased in advance at the Cal Poly Ticket Office, Monday – Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., located on Grand Avenue on the Cal Poly campus.
