Cal Poly Arts presents master trumpet star BRANDON RIDENOUR in a 3 p.m. Forbes Organ Series concert that also features guest organist Katya Gotsdiner-McMahan and pianist Peter Dugan.
Ridenour’s brilliance and self-assurance on the concert stage led to a thriving career worldwide. Recognized as “…heralding the trumpet of the future” (Chicago Sun Times) and for “demonstrating the trumpet’s huge potential for lyricism” (Cleveland Plain Dealer), he has combined his wide-ranging activities as a soloist and chamber musician with his passion for composing and arranging, resulting in his distinctive artistic voice and vision.
Active in the recording studio, Ridenour’s latest project, Come Together, features his arrangements of Beatles songs scored for a diverse array of musicians/instruments. The 2019 release celebrates the 50th anniversary of this Lennon & McCartney classic and was created to convey through music the importance of humanity coming together.
Career highlights include appearing as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and the Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Greensboro and Edmonton Symphony Orchestras; other solo performances include the Kennedy Center, Walt Disney Hall, and Carnegie Hall.
Student and adult tickets for the performance are $28.80 and $36 respectively and may be purchased in advance at the Cal Poly Ticket Office, Monday – Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., located on Grand Avenue on the Cal Poly campus; by phone at 805/756-4849; online at www.calpolyarts.org.
