Watkins Family Hour is a bluegrass musical collaborative led by siblings Sara Watkins and Sean Watkins, who also form two-thirds of the Americana music group Nickel Creek. The group began in 2002 as a monthly, informal musical variety show with the Watkins siblings and their friends in the Los Angeles nightclub Largo. Over the years, the Family Hour became a spontaneous meeting place where, on any given night, artists like Fiona Apple, Jackson Browne, Dawes, Nikka Costa, and even actor/comedian John C. Reilly might sit in for a set.
The group released their first album, consisting entirely of covers, in July of 2015. After several years of pursuing solo projects, Sara and Sean reunited for their second album, Brother Sister, which was released on January 17, 2020.
