Ken Hustad Bass Recital

Music Department faculty member and string bassist Ken Hustad will present a recital with guest performers. Hustad will perform the first movement from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007; and the two Bourrée movements from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 3 in C Major, BWV 1009. Guest artists will join Hustad for the other works on the program. Pianist Paul Woodring, an accompanist at Cal Poly, and Hustad will perform two compositions by Giovanni Bottesini: Double Bass Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp Minor, and “Elegia.” Saxophonist Ron McCarley and guitarist Adam Levine will play jazz trio works with Hustad by Oscar Pettiford, one of the fathers of jazz bass, and other jazz bass giants.
