An American classic, James Hurst’s coming-of-age story The Scarlet Ibis arrives on stage as a contemporary ballet created by Civic Ballet artistic director Drew Silvaggio. A story that explores themes of family, acceptance, pridefulness, and fragility, The Scarlet Ibis is a profound meditation on survival in a world where one just might not belong.

The Scarlet Ibis will be performed with Our Town. Based on Thornton Wilder’s groundbreaking, Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Drew Silvaggio’s new contemporary ballet explores life, love and the hereafter with its dramatic portrayal of everyday lives in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire.
