April 11, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

The SLO County Air Pollution Control District, in collaboration with the Vineyard Team, Sonoma Ecology Center, Sonoma Biochar Initiative and the Santa Barbara and Monterey Air Districts are hosting a series of workshops aimed at providing classroom and hands-on training on methods to reduce emissions through conservation burns.

This workshop is designed for vineyard, orchard and range land managers, forestry and tree contractors, fire personnel, ranchers and students in the agricultural and environmental fields.

Conservation Burn & Biochar 101: 9:00 am to 10:00 am

Conservation Burn Field Training: 10:15 am to 1:00 pm

Conservation burns provide a significant opportunity to reduce emissions in our community during burn season. These specialized burns also create biochar which land managers can then use as a soil amendment to increase crop production, retain nutrients and water, and sequester carbon safely in the soil.

An alternate location for this training is available in Monterey County. Interested participants in Santa Barbara County are encouraged to attend the Paso Robles workshop.

Monterey County Training: April 12, Hahn Family Winery, St. Philippe Vineyard in Soledad
